Mellow Grotesque is a grotesque typeface featuring geometric forms and round, closed apetures. It started out as searching a typeface for the identity for Department of Design Workshop, aiming for something neutral yet with warmth. But available options often lean more to Neo-grotesques with forms that are on the rigid and cold side. Hence the making of this typeface was started.
This typeface draws inspiration from Akzidenz-Grotesk, constructed with wider proportions with countours shaped close to circle. Terminals are often kept angled, with its angle varied across different weights.
